You purchase the locator (which comes with a single tag) and that is your only expense. You can purchase additional tags at any time. But there is no ongoing use fee, or other expenses with the Marco-Polo system, except perhaps replacing batteries after they have exceeded their number of recharge cycles and/or useful life (several years under normal use).click for answer

Will The System Work Inside?
YES. The frequency of the radio signal we use will penetrate through typical residential and commercial construction such as wood, stucco, drywall, etc. So if your pet has wandered away and gone inside a garage, house, etc. you will most likely be able to find them and determine that they are most likely inside a specific structure.click for answerclick to close
What Is The Range?

Does MarcoPolo Use GPS?
NO. We do not use GPS. Our system uses a patented radio signaling system to determine distance and direction to your pet relative to your location. GPS systems have several shortcomings: (i) very short battery life (usually a day or less); (ii) will not work inside buildings, in ravines or canyons, under heavy foliage cover, etc. rendering them useless in such circumstances.click for answerclick to close
